Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Actually, I lived in Minneapolis for two winters, They are experts at snow removal there. At least in the areas I lived in. In this case... that road is clear. The sides are not but even that amount of snow is a dusting to people that live there. The main driving part of the road is absolutely no problem for most drivers who have lived there for any length of time.

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Quote: ( The woman was aggressively approached by known assailants, she was trying to escape.) She knew these agents were ICE that is why she blocked traffic. Pretty ignorant or malicious comment you made there. Why people can't look at issues objectively is beyond me. This was going to happen with all the rhetoric that is surrounding this operation. I never would dream of interfering with federal or state officers. But some do it hoping to get fame. You can protest but you are not going to stop an operation. My nephew was in the National Guard during the George Floyd days. His job was to stand on the steps at the capital building to keep looters out. They threw water bottles at them all night, FROZEN! Used, so to be thawed the next day so they could say it was just peaceful demonstration. These guys put up with this bullshit all the time. Full time paid antagonizers will be working you all now. Rile you up to do there dirty work. They will give you tips how to hurt the officers. Some will try. Then whine after getting their ass arrested. But don't fear you will be let out to do it again. Many of you wish for anarchy. Well you wouldn't survive if it happened. You would want someone to save your dumbass and the ones who you thought were friends are now stealing your last can of chili. There is too much info being sent out now and no time for objective study of and issue. Every tom, dick, and harry are experts in smart ass. Guilty now because # I Believe. Who needs courts. Lets let right wing idiots and left wing retards decide for us. What a fucking bunch. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
My emotion: snacky & looking for popcorn. Sadly, it's never as entertaining as I hope. It's always just a bunch of people screaming "murderer!", "shame!", "do you have no conscience?" and a bunch of other things that literally do nothing. Imagine if an authoritarian Liberal government were enforcing a mandatory relocation to redistribute demographics throughout the U.S., city by city. I'm pretty fucking sure the state militias would be coming out of the woodwork. And their voices won't be their weapons. But yeah, a girl got shot. It was 100% preventable. She didn't have to be there. Just like I have a 100% chance of not being shot by ICE because you'd never find me there. She's Queen Fafo. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
The amount of new info that has came out since last night is a stark contrast to the initial info. Per usual, it's best to wait before chiming in with any certainty. I'm sure much more will come to light. But will the ppl ever see it? Or will they stick with the emotion of their first gut reaction? Probably the latter. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
To All - note the year. When they say they are enforcing the law, this is the law. Just saying. Trump (and I have no horse in his race) has said all along - I'm only enforcing and using your laws.... Be good to each other and stay away from the circuses IRL. "The Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (IIRAIRA) significantly expanded federal immigration enforcement powers, particularly those exercised by the agency that became U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after the 2003 creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Key Provisions Empowering ICE (and Predecessor INS) IIRAIRA focused on interior enforcement, detention, removal, and partnerships with local law enforcement. Key elements include: Expanded mandatory detention and removal authority — IIRAIRA introduced mandatory detention for broad categories of noncitizens, including those with certain criminal convictions (expanded "aggravated felonies") or deemed removable. It authorized (and in some cases required) immigration authorities to arrest and detain noncitizens pending removal decisions, including through administrative warrants and detainers issued to local jails to hold individuals for transfer to federal custody. Streamlined removal procedures — The law consolidated exclusion and deportation into a single "removal" process, introduced expedited removal for certain arriving noncitizens or those without valid documents, and limited judicial review and relief options. This gave immigration officers (now ICE) greater authority to quickly initiate and execute removals without full hearings in many cases. 287(g) Program: Delegation to state and local law enforcement — The most direct empowerment of ICE's reach came via Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (added by IIRAIRA). This authorizes ICE to enter agreements with state/local agencies to deputize their officers to perform immigration functions under ICE supervision, including: Investigating immigration status. Apprehending and detaining removable noncitizens. Issuing detainers, warrants, and initiating removal proceedings. Transporting noncitizens to detention centers. These partnerships extend ICE's interior enforcement capacity without directly hiring more federal agents. Enhanced interior enforcement tools — IIRAIRA increased resources for investigating visa overstays, employer violations, and alien smuggling; imposed penalties for document fraud; and supported biometric tracking systems. It also reinforced ICE's role in workplace enforcement and criminal alien identification. In summary, IIRAIRA equipped ICE with broader tools for detention, rapid removal, and collaboration with local entities to identify, arrest, detain, and deport removable noncitizens—shifting U.S. policy toward stricter interior enforcement." |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Here’s what I see based on the closeup/slow-mo video that someone here kindly posted. Woman’s standpoint: To me, it appears that she had no intent of running him over. She probably wasn’t even registering in that moment that there was an officer standing in front of her vehicle because she was so focused on getting away from that psycho officer yelling profanities while trying to open the driver side door. She probably saw the officer in front of her vehicle at the very last moment, and instinctively turned the steering wheel to the right to try to avoid hitting him. Almost simultaneously, Mr. QuickDraw shot her. Shooter’s standpoint: The woman deliberately blocked the path of ICE vehicles using her vehicle and subsequently refused to comply with his colleague’s orders. He went to the front of the woman’s vehicle to prevent her from fleeing. She then momentarily put the vehicle in reverse and, from his standpoint, appeared to come at him. He registered the treat and reacted (somewhat excessively, in my opinion). He didn’t have the luxury to notice she was beginning to steer her vehicle away from him. Her vehicle bumped him slightly. Conclusion/opinion: The woman never intended to run over the officer but unintentionally and momentarily created the appearance (from the shooter’s standpoint) that she intended to. The officer had no business firing at her under those circumstances and his actions were intolerable, but to say that he didn’t perceive an imminent threat for his safety is also not entirely true. |
