The crazy (and one of the saddest) part is that ICE basically did a perfectly fine job for 22 years. They did their work, they deported millions of illegals, very very few people ever got killed. They were reliable and relatively efficient. They weren't 'loved' but most normal citizens just tacitly accepted their role and went about their lives.

ICE operated quietly, professionally, and responsibly.

But Trump decided this term that 23% of the nation's voting age-of-majority population somehow equated with being a decisive mandate in his mind.

And being a reality tv star, real estate hustler, and narcissistic showman by nature, he decided that the best way to make sure everyone knew he had a 'mandate' was to make the whole fucking agency into a circus.

Out of the blue they're swarming the streets, no badges, no IDs, wearing masks to hide their faces from accountability. People are getting thrown into vans with no due process in front of crowds of witnesses. People are getting shot. People are getting beaten. American Citizens are being arrested by 'mistake' and stashed in cells with no access to their lawyers or families.

Actual illegals are being deported with no due process to foreign countries they have never even been to as part of back room deals where Trump is basically trading prison labor to other countries in exchange for favors or trade deals.

A Federal Judge ordered him to return them, as it was a violation of their Rights and the Law to sell them to some other country without due process. Trump ignored the court order and did it anyway, saying, "What are you gonna do, arrest me? I'm the fucking President. The only limit on my power is my mortality."

All of a sudden, after 22 years of ICE doing their job every day and no one really giving too much of a fuck about it, he re-tools them as an absurdly high-profile political weapon.

He starts targeting cities, not because they have the highest concentration of illegals, but because they are population centers for the opposition party. Not only that, but he deliberately uses ICE officers as terror troops, ordering them to put on big shows of force in Democratic cities only, terrifying citizens and intimidating crowds just because they voted against Trump. Or criticized him in the news.

He and Noem have utterly destroyed any credibility that agency had in the space of 12 short months. No one even remembers that they did their job well, discreetly, and responsibly for decades. Now hundreds of millions of people will remember them only as a weaponized terror squad, conducting bloody political theater for the circus ringleader who is only in this game for the limelight and the backhanders.

Vedderman, I will respectfully disagree on one point. Trump did not give ICE a bad name they have had it for over a decade. They were beat up daily in the Biden administration setting them up as bad guys. Geraldine Walters and AOC were the prime movers of that operation.

The statement he targets cities which are blue is correct. But could the targeting be because they have declared come here and we will protect you?

Yeah, but the PEOPLE didn't give a shit. The Woke Squad in Congress might have hated on them, but the average citizen didn't care. Even the average Democrat didn't care. Moderates didn't care.

Like I mentioned, many Americans didn't love ICE. Maybe wished they weren't necessary, but ultimately accepted that they had a job to do, so long as they were doing it without a lot of blood and horror, without a lot of headlines. Most Americans didn't even know who they were.

Any 'bad name' they may have had 6 years ago is NOTHING compared to how sullied they are now. Now basically every American except for the Maga hardliners hate them. Are scared of them. Resent them.

And internationally? Even more so. Most of the rest of the world equates them with the Gestapo.

ICE as we know them will be gone when Trump is gone. The department as we know it will be completely restructured from the ground up. Their credibility is permanently in the toilet with hundreds of millions of people. And it ain't like Trump is gonna make it better in the next few years.

He's a fucking idiot. If he had any sense of perspective he'd back the fuck off and let those Blue states keep them.

Of the 19 states in the country that PAY IN more tax money to the Federal Government than they TAKE OUT, 13 of them are solidly Blue states. 2 of them are flip states. Only 4 of them are solidly Red states.

For anyone who can't do the quick math or doesn't wanna do the research, that basically means that a sweeping majority of the funding that Red states in this country get from the Federal government is paid for by Blue states.

For chrissake, New York, Jersey, and California alone PAY IN 268 BILLION dollars per year more than they take out.

If he just let the solidly Blue states that want them, keep them, they'd be the ones paying for it. And it wouldn't even fuck with the gerrymandering much since most of those states are so solidly Blue that even IF a bunch of illegals were voting illegally, it wouldn't fucking matter.

But no. He wants to be the Big Strong Man. He wants to punish them for defying the King. So instead he will SPEND billions to try to deport labor forces from states that actually want them and can afford to pay for them. And he's going to piss off hundreds of millions of citizens in the process. And put such a stink of corruption on DHS that it will never be the same again when he is gone.

And for what? Fucking hubris. Fucking ego.

I often wondered what Andrew Jackson was like. I would say we are looking at a close match. Trump has no people skills when it comes to addressing those he dislikes.

Where we are at though is we either vote pure party or vote for the one we dislike the least. That's fucking sad.

I was a FOREIGNER who used to live in LA for 30 years and I had never even HEARD of ICE until 2025 . I only dealt with USCIS (called INS back in the day) and CBP.

That's because they did their fucking job instead of putting on a 3-ring circus at the command of their King.

Now they're like a herd of turtles, stumbling around clumsily and making a mess anywhere Trump shines the laser pointer. Everything they do is in the spotlight because that's where Trump wanted them to be.

Well, until they really fuck up like this week. And then they shut all external law enforcement sources out of the investigation to handle it all 'internally.'

Normally, an honest faction would want to bring all resources to the fore on a major and publicized case like this one. Work in conjunction or at least adjacent to State (and sometimes local) law enforcement. Nothing says 'honesty and transparency' like black-balling every cop in the state except the ones on Trump's payroll.

He's hoping that between this illegal coverup and the Epstein files illegal cover up, his dull-witted followers will be so confused that they'll just ignore both cover ups instead.
