Pilot survived and said the basket caught fire and he brought balloon close to ground and said "jump". some jumped, some didn't. I would guess the 13 survivors jumped and then the basket rose again and became fully engulfed, falling 200 feet in a flaming basket doesn't look healthful. Moral of the story, when you are on a flaming balloon, jump first before the balloon soars again after it sheds mass / people.

PRAIA GRANDE, SC, Brazil (June 21, 2025) — A balloon carrying around 22 people caught fire and crashed in Santa Catarina on Saturday morning (21/6). According to preliminary information from the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department, at least 8 people died.

Images shared on social media show the moment the hot air balloon catches fire and falls. The balloon ride took place in Praia Grande, located in the extreme south of Santa Catarina. The place is known as the "Capital of Canyons" and also as the "Capital of Ballooning".
