Ah love this; a true "feelgood" video for us gorelovers lol  Remarkably precise shooting, risky as fuck under the circumstances, but obvious the sniper knew his onions Makes me sick when I think this fucker shot that poor womans young sons; makes his demise even more satisfying.

Yeah, in concurrence with other posts: it was most likely a .308 round. The ballistics performance (body count and bullet drop, drift tables) has been proven in multiple wars. The weight is also most likely a 168 or 172 gr. boat tail, etc. Interestingly, the wound channel performance of the round was not as dramatic as I would expect of a .308 (i.e. cranial cavity explosion). Thus, it may have been a lower caliber/velocity round. It was a quick kill (in the T region necessary to put a "lights out" incapacitation); it was the shot I would have taken, and yes, it was necessary due to the revolver so close to the hostage's head. Someone mentioned that it could have been a ricochet from an attempt to shoot the assailant's revolver: if a rifle round or even 9mm would have hit the guy's revolver, it would have blown it out of the guy's hand (see the video where the sniper shoots the revolver out of a suicidal guy's hand); so it was not a round that hit the revolver, ricocheted, and then hit the guy in the eye. It was a high risk decision that saved the courts the time of a trial, the victim survived, and a murderer of children got sent to Hell.  |

Ok, I forgot one more thing, if a .308, why no brain matter on the metal roll up door behind the assailant? Yet, if you look at the body loaded in the ambulance, lots of brain matter and CSF oozing out.

Take a close look ,the shot appears to go in on his nose on his right center. Don't believe a sniper would shoot his eye ---center of mass--head shot. |

The sniper was probably trying to punch straight through the nose and into the eye. Like Sniper said above, the sharpshooter placed the round in the T-section for a "no-reflex" kill where the gunman wouldn't be able to pop off a shot even as a death spasm because his brain stem is completely obliterated by the round.
