Re: Hoover Dam Suicide
When I went there I looked for evidence of this type of thing. I did see streaks going down the side that disappeared. Now I know that wasn't what I thought it was. On the way there too is another place that's pretty low. A bridge by where the guy in the white shirt came from. At the bottom of that bridge I saw red stains. I wish I was there when this happened. |

Re: Hoover Dam Suicide
He fell 700ft in roughly 6.5 seconds that equates to roughly 75mph give or take about 10%(+-) so at the moment of impact he was hit with about 6500 Newtons of force. 4000 Newtons of force to the head or neck has a 50% chance of death. So he did have a chance of survival. Poor guy, R.I.P. |

Re: Hoover Dam Suicide
According to the various sources, approximately 30 people have jumped to their deaths since the dam opened in 1935, far fewer than the Golden Gate Bridge (about 1,200 suicides since its 1937 completion, according to the Golden Gate Suicide Barrier Coalition)or the Sunshine Skyway Bridge over Tampa Bay; well over 100 suicides since its completion in 1987. The dam's police and security do a good job of watching for people showing signs of distress, solitary people, no cameras, emotional, crying, etc. |
