Hong Kong News Today A 22-year-old man was driving a motorcycle when he was hit by a taxi at a traffic black spot at the intersection of Nathan Road and Argyle Street in Mong Kok early yesterday morning. He and his female passenger were thrown onto the pavement and were seriously injured and fell into unconsciousness. They were sent to hospital. Rescue failed. The taxi driver, passengers and passers-by were also injured. It is understood that the motorcycle was suspected of causing the accident by "Running Into A Redlight". Two people were injured in a taxi, and a passer-by was hit in the head by suspected debris and bleeding. After the accident, the motorcycle driver surnamed Chen lay down on the steps opposite the Hang Seng Bank, with his feet twisted. The driver was violently shaken, and Chen and the female passenger were thrown onto the sidewalk about 5 meters away from the traffic lane. Both of them were seriously injured and fell into coma. Both vehicles were seriously damaged. The taxi was traveling northbound on Nathan Road, while the motorcycle slid about 20 meters and overturned on the side of the road. The ambulance crew arrived at the scene after receiving the report. They first took off the helmets of the man and woman on the motorcycle and gave them first aid on the spot. They were then sent to the hospital by ambulance respectively. After the rescue, the two died one after another. The three injured men were all conscious when they were sent to the hospital. After the car accident, the scene was covered with debris and oil stains. The roadside railings were damaged and deformed. Some of the traffic light shades on the lamp posts were hanging in the air. It was not ruled out that they were knocked down by the flying cavalry or destroyed by splashing debris. The police blocked the traffic lane involved to collect evidence. And check nearby CCTV and car cam footage. It is reported that the motorcycle was traveling along the third left lane of Argyle Street at the time. It was suspected that the motorcycle "Ran The Redlight" and exited Nathan Road. It first crossed three southbound lanes and was violently hit by a taxi traveling along the second left lane when it reached the northbound lane. The cause of the accident is still under investigation and the case is being followed up by the Special Investigation Team of the Traffic Department, Kowloon West Region. Police appeal to anyone who witnessed the accident or has information to provide to contact investigators. It is reported that the deceased woman lived in a public housing estate in Ngau Tau Kok. Her neighbors said that the family moved into the unit more than a year ago and greeted her parents on weekdays, but she was rarely seen in the past. Someone in the unit was heard talking about an accident early yesterday morning, and heard crying. The deceased male lived in Shau Kei Wan. Neighbors said they had seen him wearing a helmet when entering and exiting his unit, and he would nod to say hello every day. |
