Nerve damage can be repaired but it depends on what kind of nerve, the severity of the injury, the location on the body, the quality of medical treatment pre and post surgery (if necessary), how your body responds to rehab, etc. But even in the best circumstances we're not talking about 100% recovery, and my understanding is a lot of people unfortunately deal with nerve pain for the rest of their lives.

But if surgery is necessary, the goal is usually to reconnect severed nerves, or to take some healthy nerves from one part of your body, and use them in the damaged area, just like a skin graft.
