well with a face splitting accident like that ill tell you as a firefighter with firsthand experience seeing that its not easy and i cant beleive they got the endotraceal tube in his lungs with that much damage to the skull structure his face definetly split there cracked liek an egg the reason he prolly was still alive was cause they put a c collar on him in the water and it held his face mostly closed
