Guy Inside a Bakery Tries to Resist an Armed Robbery but Gets Shot and Killed

Colombia. Ómar Z. P. was at a bakery with his mother and he had reportedly just withdrawn a significant amount of money from a nearby bank.

Two armed men entered the establishment to commit a robbery. Ómar tried to resist the assault and got engaged in a physical struggle with the criminals, who then shot him.

He was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after arrival due to the severity of his wounds.

It’s only money and it can’t buy back a life no matter how much you had.

Re: Guy Inside a Bakery Tries to Resist an Armed Robbery but Gets Shot and Killed

Generally speaking, money isn't worth dying over.
Disclaimer: There are exceptions to that claim though. eg. if the money was needed to pay for the curable treatment of a child with terminal illness(s). I'd die if I knew that it saved my child from death.
Open to thoughts... Was initially like "No amount of money is worth dying over", but then realized that I'm privileged to live where I live, compared to other places on this Earth.

The employee seems more concerned about him than the bitch he was sitting with so he must have been out to eat with his wife.

I think Mr.NoCredit is right, obviously no amount of money is worth losing your life over. (I'm assuming the person is not terminally ill).

While that is (IMO) obvious, I would also say that loss of life means giving up any future opportunities - and you never know how valuable those opportunities might be. Even more money might be made. But this is rational thought, and the response might not necessarily be a rational one.

I wonder if the victim's response was more of an instinctive response to being attacked rather than rationally balancing the value of life vs money. Remember the "fight or flight" reflex - AFAIK that's not a rational response, more instinctive. I guess he chose "fight" rather than "flight".

Of course giving up your life to save one or more other lives is a completely different thing.

Appears to have been a burly dude who was probably used to being able to throw his weight around.

Higher levels of testosterone leading to an instinctual "fight" response as opposed to "flight" (or better still, "freeze") may have contributed to his untimely demise.

There are plenty of videos here of musclebound he-men whose overestimation of their strength resulted in a deadly outcome.
