Agree. The jaywalker didn’t ‘hit’ anything, but is most definitely the direct cause of the accident! Definitely, they should be punished the same as anyone who causes an accident while driving a car.

Well said. It's crazy to me how bad drivers are. Given the apparently great road conditions, he was better off not going so fast he couldn't break.

Changing lanes is a worse option, on average, because you risk far more traffic disruption than if you brake. Of course, everyone minding their following distance is helpful with said braking but see the part about how bad drivers are.

Basic driving competence would've prevented this despite the jackass pedestrian's usual nonsense.
