Boy there's a big difference between hacking somebody up when they are dead or alive....alive is far more bloodier! He was probably in shock when he opened his eyes wide. I hope he couldn't feel anything by that point. Brutal!

Because your heart is not pumping blood after you’re dead that is why there is lack of blood during the cutting. And I agreed, the dead and dried are pretty boring.
