Re: Guy on Fire Sitting on an Eagle Statue Leaps Off Bridge
Okay, I managed to get some new infos about the case, here is the link to the source: http://www.stop.hu/articles/article.php?id=671328 http://www.blikk.hu/blikk_aktualis/m...-hidra-2019362 (it is in hungarian though, so I doubt you can read it. In a nutshell: Reporters asked a few questions to Fekete Tamás officer(major, firefighter) who led the attempt of rescuing the man. He said that the man was obviously disturbed, they thought he was on drugs. The guy was so out of his mind, the firefighters failed to establish communication with him, he simply ignored all questions and attempts of making a conversation, he was mumbling to himself. The firefighters didnt want to approach him within 3 meters because he was shifting around on the statue so confidentally like he would do so in his on sofa and they were afraid that approaching him would make him distracted and fall down. Fekete Tamás tried to call a specialist from the police and medical department, who is specialized in talking with drugged suicidal people because he had no expertise in that field, but the guy jumped before a specialist could arrive. He tried to talk to the guy for 40 minutes but he couldnt even get his name. The only thing the suicidal man told the rescuers is that he is junkie and nothing matters for him anymore, after that he set himself on fire, burned for almost 2 minutes and leaped off the statue. His last words were: "Im the king! Im Bruce Willis! Im Dirty Fred, the captain!" Dirty Fred (or in original hungarian Piszkos Fred) is the main character of a book written by the well liked hungarian author Lőrincz L. László (you may know him as Leslie L. Lawrence). The man's identity is still unknown, no friends or realitves showed up yet, the results of the autopsy hasnt been revealed yet. It was a great shock for major Fekete Tamás, because so far he was able to talk down every person who tried to commit suicide, he also stated that firefighters need a training program to counter people who are on drugs. If I find anything more, Ill post it here. |
