It looked like any of the spectators were in as much peril as the guy being chased. The guy with the sword is just running after him chopping here and there, sometimes scoring and sometimes not.
You could just be standing there and all of a sudden..."Shit, he chopped my fucking hand off!!!"
Then finally the street referees come in and say, "OK, that's enough chopping for today!" and throw his ass in the back of their little rescue pick-up.
