Though MFDB has a great avatar he is not exactly right nor is he exactly wrong. For general military purpose he is correct regular soldiers are not given anything other than delayed fuse fragmentation grenades (the type you throw) sometimes offensive or percussion type grenades are used in some units and for training. These grenades have very quick fuses. Expedient Weapons Training is offered to some select units outside of Special Operations (SF, Rangers, MARSOC, SEALs etc ) mostly to units within the intelligence corps. EWT teaches the soldier advanced systems training among many other things. For instance how to utilize an offensive grenade and other items to create a fragmentation grenade. Now he is correct it would better be used as a claymore style explosive but there are other ways to use them. I’m sure MFDB, will agree throwing a claymore at the enemy will effectively give them a perfectly good claymore that is not the case with a repurposed offensive grenade. Still if you screw up with one it will bite you. |
