Bulletproof is a misnomer, should be bullet resistant.. there are levels of resistance 1 through 10. Level 7 is supposed to stop .223 rounds, I assume this guy was just expecting to stop pistol fire.

The highest level of consumer "bulletproof" glass is called Level 4. It's pretty thick stuff. Usually needs significant door and window modifications and requires beefing up the vehicle's suspension. There's plenty of YT videos about it's use and testing. It can take many rounds from a carbine without penetration. Allegedly, "The Beast," as the POTUS limo is called, has a level superior to this and can prevent armor piercing rounds and RPG's. (I'd pay to see that...).

The typical "bullet resistant" glass available in executive protection packages on cars is Level 3 or lower. They standup pretty well to handgun fire, but needless to say any carbine rifle round will blow right through it like butter.

Additionally, the hydrostatic shock from the blast makes the car fly through the air. I’ve seen it happen many times.
