This hole incident made Greece look bad in the eyes of the world. Some 30 years ago, I used to take my car in the ferry from Brindisi to Patras. The customs were nice and friendly in Italy but in Greece there were just corrupt. Along with Malta, Greece does have excellent accommodation for sailboats. Much better than anyone in the Med. Sadly, this tragedy could have been avoided if a little common sense could have prevailed.

Triggered a thought.. a few times on vaca in the Caribbean would go on a day trip for snorkeling or jet skiing, stuff like that. It never fails we would be sitting on the bus waiting to depart back to the hotel and some knob would be in the gift shop or in some way lollygagging/fucking about, causing the 40 some exhausted, just want to get to happy hour people on the bus to wait for the inconsiderate fuckstick to finally wander back then give us this sheepish grin as if to say "oh... I made all of you wait??" I would submit for your consideration if that was the case here, I wouldn't go so far as to let the prick drown but I would let him splash around a bit and swallow a gallon of salt water before reeling him in. I guess you picked up by now I'm a stickler for punctuality.

It's a crime to stow away, the could have apprehended him and held him till the next port and charged him for the crime. Letting him "kill himself was a crime. It was the captains actions that left him in the water he was pushed back when there was slight danger, yet the two capable men chose to not help but hinder life and death was the result.
