French Guillotine Compilation & Last French Guillotine Execution
digital video montage dealing with guillotine execution in the early part of the 20th century; most notably that of eugene weidmann in 1939. the enthusiasm of the crowd, as well as the fact that the event was filmed from an apartment window, became major factors in the french governments decision to ban public executions. as a result, the weidmann execution was the last public guillotining in france before the death penalty was finally abolished in 1981. musical setting is the viola solo "elegie" by igor stravinsky. 2nd clip is just the Weidmann execution If you found this post interesting also have a look at http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...-1915-a-22018/ |

The blade moves slower then I thought it would. That almost gives you time to think before the actual severing of the head.

yep that would suck to be at the bad end of that stick.. i heard they would sometimes get stuck half way down, and they would have to raise and lower the blade a couple times to get it unstuck while your waiting there for it to drop thinkin each time Shit this is it. [/life]

Re: French Guillotine Compilation & Last French Guillotine Execution
Reminds me of the British comedy film "Carry On Don't Lose Your Head" where a note is given to the character about to have his head chopped off and he says, "Put it in the basket, I'll read it later" Good footage |
