For those of us who have experience with pits, this makes total sense. Friends of mine will always be conscious of holding the dog back when opening the door. If I had my sidearm on when one ran out the door at me, hell yes I'm shooting. No pit is charging me without me thinking it wants to tear into me. He was in an "oh shit" moment and did what anybody would have done. It's not a situation stop and pet, kill.

I mean. What kind of dog owner keeps a dog that's outwardly aggressive like that? I have a pit and she's never acted like that towards anyway. The first time a sign is shown from ANY dog aggression towards someone where it's not justified, it's getting replaced.

So much hate for pits. I blame any owner who has a dog, feeds it twice a day, and never has a bit of interaction with their dog to the point where it's essentially a wild animal who lets you feed it.

My stepsister had a pit from the earliest point of being able to purchase a dog. Could not control him/her (I forgot) for the life of her. Ended up with damaged furniture in every room of the house and injuries dealt to her. Being the masochistic idiot she is, she held onto the dog for another 3 years or so before getting rid of it. That breed of dogs need WAAAAAAAAAY more attention and care than other breeds (this dog BECOMES your main hobby or else) and more often than not, the owners don't give it enough resulting in living beings similar to attack dogs much like the retarded owners of this pit who let the dog out first to greet the cop for some dumb reason. The cop entered fight or get your ass killed mode for good reason and I can't say I wouldn't do the same.

Rip dog.
Justified cop.
Jailed owners.

This should be a 1 year jail sentence for the irresponsible dog owners minimum. Only because the officer was not hurt.

If the officer had been bitten, they should have had to do at least 3 years in jail.

They are dangerous, hell I have a Australian cattle dog and you wont see me open the door to a cop with her standing right there, its just irresponsible.

This isnt a case of the dog jumping around and trying to play...this was two morons who let their dog loose and the dog charged the guy. Was it going to attack? He didn't know and neither do we. They can explain how he's just playful all they want...they should have kept their dog restrained.
