I work in a grocery store and we've caught guys that tried to run away in a far more efficient/harmless way so I do think this cop was foolish to have his gun in his hand for some cuffed teens that ran off. However, JUST DON'T RUN FROM THE COPS!! Just seriously don't, it's not worth it! People make mistakes, and here both the cop and the shoplifter were at fault, mostly the teens though by running away, had they not done that both of them would still have been alive and the cop wouldn't have had to live with this tragic event at the back of his mind the rest of his life. This case only has losers. |

i could see using a gun to hit someone if you are involved in a struggle, but in this case it was ridiculous. that cop should face charges

Have we not learned yet NOT to run from the police? I mean they don't go by the same rule set as us "normies". Accident or not, should be charged with murder. Just as if it were a civilian who had shot the kid. Dumb kids, running like that. Goddamned.

Why is it okay to hit a scrawny 16 year old kid with a loaded gun when he has stopped and is surrendering? Punishment for making the prick run? It was shoplifting, not rape or murder. Scared kids do dumb things. He didn't deserve to die for it. And this loose cannon cop, as someone pointed out, could have done anything to make 2 handcuffed teens scared enough to run. God only knows what this cop said or did prior to this!

Sad an all, yeah the cop was probably in the wrong for hitting the kid after they'd already stopped running.................. BUT, and that's a big BUT 
....it's pretty simple, had those kids not ran in the first place, they never would have put that cop in that situation to begin with. Decided to make a run for it, for shoplifting, obviously not worth it in the end. 
I'm sorry the kid died, but, he brought that shit on himself. People really don't understand karma, 
As little as it may seem these kids tried to mess with someone else's life, and well-being, but Karma wasn't having it.
