Ecuador. Five people were killed and at least two were injured in an armed attack Saturday afternoon in a brothel in Santa Teresa in the north of the province of Manabí.

According to initial police reports, several armed men arrived at the establishment in a vehicle and opened fire on those inside. The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. and prompted an immediate deployment of National Police units.

Authorities confirmed that, in addition to the five fatalities, the attack left at least two people seriously injured, who were taken to hospitals.

Investigations are underway at the scene to gather evidence and determine the motive for the crime.

The police confirmed that among the deceased are Miguel A.L.T, Miguel A.G.B, and Alvaro S. The other two victims have yet to be identified. The incident also left 2 seriously injured.

This incident marks the second massacre in Manabí this year. In the early hours of January 2nd, an armed attack in the Mazato neighborhood of Manta left four people dead and two wounded.

The province remains under a state of emergency while investigations continue to find those responsible for these violent acts.
