During a New Year's family celebration, a family, in a state of intoxication, were outside their house when two criminals on a motorbike stopped and opened fire on them.

An artisanal fisherman, Pedro F.S.J., was shot in the head and leg and died at the scene. Two others suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital. Relatives believed Pedro was not an intended target, as they could not recall any threats against him.

The gunfire appears to have been insufficient to rouse the man in the black shirt from his drunken stupor.

Yes, and we usually say "commercial fisherman" if we wish to indicate someone who does it for a living. Of course there is the logical possibility that he was a commercial fisherman who got by with low tech methods.
