Re: Fireball Explosion when Biker Meets a Truck
The dash cam shows the camera car was travelling at 93 kilometres an hour (58 miles per hour)when the bike flew past. The speed limit is 60-80 kph in town and 110 on the highway. |

Re: Fireball Explosion when Biker Meets a Truck
Mishap investigators call this the "six second window". Motorcyclist passes three seconds earlier, truck misses motorcycle. Motorcycle is three seconds later, the rider has an opportunity to avoid a crash by either adjusting speed (in this case, slowing down/stopping) or adjusting position (move left or right). Problem is, most motorcyclists, especially in countries that don't require operator training, don't know how to do either. They panic, don't use correct braking and/or swerving techniques, or just close their eyes and brace for impact. |
