Colombia. The woman, identified by the authorities as the financial manager of the gang Los Costeños, was shot dead inside a residential complex.

The murder of Mayra A.V.D, known as La Mona, shook Puerto Colombia, after she was shot inside an exclusive residential complex.

The victim was identified by intelligence agencies as a person close to Jorge Eliécer Diaz Collazos, alias 'Castor', considered one of the main leaders of the Los Costeños criminal structure.

According to authorities, in addition to being his romantic companion, she allegedly performed functions related to the financial management of the organization.

Witnesses reported several detonations and, upon arriving at the scene, found the woman without vital signs between two vehicles.

Following the attack, Metropolitan Police units and Prosecution officials began collecting evidence and reviewing security camera recordings to establish the escape route for those responsible.

The murder has generated concern among authorities due to the possible repercussions within the conflict that are maintained by criminal organizations for the control of illegal activities in Barranquilla and nearby municipalities.

Security experts warn that the death of a person considered strategic within the criminal environment could trigger more violent actions amid dispute between illegal armed groups operating in the area.

Following her release from jail in 2023, she operated openly as a professional lawyer. Her former partner, the gang boss alias Castor, confirmed after her death that she formally served as part of his legal defense team and handled legal matters regarding urban peace negotiations.
