80 Year Old Female Pillion Rider Fatally Hits Car's Windscreen
Vietnam, On National Highway 12, near the cemetery, a car driven by a 29-year-old male, T.B, collided violently with a motorbike that was operated by a 55-year-old Ms. Đ.T.H, who was carrying her 80-year-old mother, Mrs. H.T.C. Due to the severe force of the impact, the elderly passenger suffered catastrophic fatal injuries and died instantly at the scene. Her daughter, whos helmet flew off right away, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the emergency room by local residents and first responders. Both vehicles were impounded for technical forensic review to establish the exact criminal and civil liabilities of the involved parties. Investigators are analyzing the exact speeds and road positions. Under Vietnamese traffic law, if the car driver is found to have exceeded the speed limit or failed to maintain a safe distance, he will face criminal prosecution for violating road traffic regulations resulting in death. If the motorbike's sudden swerve is deemed the sole unavoidable cause, criminal charges may be averted or shifted. In the Ninh Binh Province around 290 fatalaties occur each year involving people riding a motorbike. In Vietnam, approx. 25 motorbike riders or passengers lose their lives on the road every day, meaning roughly 1 fatality every single hour. The Ninh Binh Traffic Police cite 3 leading behavioral factors behind these deadly motorcycle crashes being a lack of observation when changing lanes. Executing sudden turns across open highways without yielding to high-speed cars or trucks. Failing to control vehicle speeds when traveling around blind curves or intersections. Failing to wear a helmet, or using low-quality, non-certified plastic caps that offer zero protection against severe traumatic brain injuries during a collision. |
