If you have a noise complaint, bring it up with the property manager. It is their JOB to handle those issues, not YOURS. There is no reason why you should even have to identify yourself.

If the manager doesn't do anything about it, then you need to look for another place to live OR invest in a good pair of noise cancelling headphones; the BOTTOM line is: STOP BEING CHEAP! A good property manager will go out of their way to enforce noise levels after a certain time.

There are battles worth fighting for, battles worth dying for. Noise is NOT one of them.

Wow, I sure would love to have you as an upstairs/ downstairs neighbor I could run hog wild, play my music as loudly as I wanted, and party til the morning hours. Worst you'll do is put your noise cancelling headphones on, call the property manager (who won't do ANYTHING 90% of the time) or move out. Not even a rap on the ceiling or floor to quiet down like most people would do because you're so non-confrontational. You are a dream neighbor

The big dude was a bitch too though. How you going to have all that muscle, just to go put on a shirt and grab some scissors? I'm with foxfantastic on this one. Choosing to fight your neighbor because the walls of your NYC apt. building are paper thin is stupid and self-destructive. You gotta go through the proper channels, or handle it in other ways. It sucks, but you can't go to the beach and complain when you get sand in your shoe...it comes with the territory.

For starters, I would NEVER live in an apartment with frequent noise like that and an airheaded manager that does nothing to remedy the situation.

I noticed in the news report that the older of the two victims was a bodybuilder. I thought he had kind of a weird, disproportionate and pumped look to him,. Those guys fall hard when you push them over.
