If you watch the video here where a woman gets her arms chopped off before she loses her head, her severed head also has a mouth suddenly opening and her jaw tensing for a second or two, before the mouth closing again. And this happens well after the head is severed and the head has been on the ground for a while.

no, there are other decap videos that show the mandible opening/moving in the seconds/minutes following the event. usually the executioner is trying to place the head on top of the body just like this, for a photo op, and the head rolls off because: jaw movements

No. Not his brain reacting. Note that the jaw thrusts only when the animal pushes the back of his head into the ground. It's how you give mouth to mouth. It's called the jaw thrust, and it's how you open the airway of an unconscious person. I'm afraid, however, that in this case, that it may be a little too late to help this poor wretch. |
