Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes
Very Interesting. I’m sure it’s real as the brain is still firing a few seconds after separation.

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes
Sticky thread! I've seen two other videos where decapitated heads moved. One I think it was a Mexican women that was beheaded by Cartel guys, her eyes slowly move that was the creepiest. Another was a guy beheaded and the head stuck tongue out. Maybe a few other floating around. |

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes
No, the motor facial nerves do not have arc reflexes, they don't originate in the spinal chord, the nerves originate in the pons located in the brain stem but need cortical input (from the primary motor cortex in the frontal lobe of the brain), so the brain has to process stimuly to allow motor signals to be passed from the pons to the facial motor nerves, now, the fact of that brain being fully conscious is another matter but one thing is certain, tha brain had to possess the ability to still process nerve inputa and coordinate the facial reaction, it was not a reflex, if we are to adhere to the physiologycal facts. |

Re: Facial Expression on Decapitated Head Changes
The brain loses consciousness during or after decapitation due to a sudden and acute drop in blood pressure. The brain isn't instantly dead though, it can stay alive until all of the remaining oxygen in the blood is depleted.
