The eye can be put back in the socket, lasting damage depends on whether there was damage to the ocular nerve, loss of blood flow, the the eye itself was damaged and if it doesn't get too dried out. 17 years working in the EMS system.

The eye has to be back in the socket within 30 mins generally. After that, there's too much stretching of the nerves and vessels to make it worthwhile. Drive fast, Mr. Truck Man!
