Re: Emotional Moment when Parents See Their Dead Children
That tears me up... The most disturbing sound I ever heard in my years as a cop was the sound of a father identifying his dead child. It is a sound I wil NEVER forget - I swear his soul was ripped from him... I don't care who you are - race, religion, ethnicity or background the death of a child just fucking hurts to the core. ![]() |

Re: Emotional Moment when Parents See Their Dead Children
Now this is something to chew on. Good point! Regarding this vid: it's very easy to understand the reactions it gets. Every single internal reaction you get from watching this forum's videos, with people you know shit about, is the result of two factors: 1) assumed level of innocence/guilt of the victims. 2) selfish kind of empathy with the victims that is defined by one statement and one question: "OMG, it could have been me/my family in his/her/their place!" & "What if this happens to me/my family?". Even tho these two factors could work on their own we have both of them in effect for this video. First off, we have not just one but two types of victims: dead little girls & mourning family. For 1) we can safely assume that the three little girls were as innocent as possible. For 2) we do not identify ourselves with the little girls but with the parents in this case. It's not that hard as most of us are already parents or planning to become one. It could be both but "What if this happens to me?" feels stronger than "It could have been me in their place" for this particular vid. This video has all the ingredients. It's begging for you to shed a tear or two. As I have seen on this thread there are ways in which you can use your "defense mechanism" so not to resort to too much sadness. Example: redirect the assumption of innocence on the parents rather than the girls. The irony? Religiously, that's not necessarily incorrect ![]() |

I kind of laughed. I want to know what happened to these kids though. I'm very interested.
