Ecuador. Jose R.V, 55, was a well known poultry and egg merchant and distributor. Yesterday afternoon at the Plaza Central market a hitman, wearing a motorcycle helmet, entered the market and fired multiple shots at him without saying a word.

At the moment of the shooting, he was accompanied by his wife and his minor grandson. Fortunately, both remained physically unharmed.

Police suggest the crime is linked to extortion, like usual as the merchant refused to pay a weekly demand of $25 imposed by criminal groups on stalls within the market. Police recovered five 9mm shell casings.

This kind of extorsion is very difficult to combat. I think the government should create a rule, where if you can record an extorsion attempt, you immediately gain a permission for pre-emptive execution.
The moment someone in those countries tells you "give me x money per week or else...your life is in danger" and you should be allowed to immediately fight for your life with lethal force.
