The company operating the backhoe should have had the area roped off with danger tape or something. I mean they didn’t even do any fundamental safety procedures that are meant to keep this from happening. I realize the lady was paying attention but in addition to see it, you really can’t miss hearing it. Most of gathers backhoes make a noise when backing to warn people unaware like this poor lady. |

Thing is, large equipment like that almost always emits a loud, rhythmic beeping sound when moving in reverse! I know NYC is a loud environment, but geez......
