To me it seems completely involuntary. I think he was already long-gone, just weird when he's running his head, which is the only movement that 'seems' voluntary. He stops for a second to wildly flap his arm, and then continues rubbing. Maybe muscle memory posts a part in this somehow? Could it be the conscience part of the brain is completely gone, yet still react to stimuli( such as scratching yourself in your sleep for example)? Very interesting stuff... |

He's in shock. People do weird things when in shock. He knows he's been hurt, but doesn't realize his brains are leaking. Patting and rubbing are basic soothing actions. That's my guess.  |
