Brazil, An ambulance was called after a speeding car hit a cyclist as the victim was bleeding and had an open fracture and apparently no longer had vital signs.

The driver of the 27-year-old vehicle was very shaken, sitting on the sidewalk.

The GM Celta vehicle was standing on the road with the doors open and a 375 ml beer can beside the vehicle on the floor.

The SAMU and Ambulance of the Municipal Emergency Room went to the place and the doctor on duty attested the death of the victim.

The victim had an open fracture in the lower limbs and exposure of a brain mass. The police in conversation with the driver of the vehicle, reported that he was in a fraternization on a friend's farm celebrating his birthday.

The driver reported close to the witnesses that he had drunk alcohol at the party. He said that after the party, he took his car and came to the city.

The driver reported that he was driving his GM Celta vehicle when the victim, on a bicycle, changed lanes and entered in front of his vehicle causing the collision.

The driver of the car showed signs that he had drunk alcohol, being: ethyl breath, disconnected speech, red eyes. He even assumed that he had ingested 2 cans of 375 ml of beer and was consuming the third can inside the vehicle at the time of the accident, which was found beside the vehicle. The beer can was seized.

The driver refused to take the alcohol test, he had no injuries and was taken to the Emergency Medical Service.

The fatal victim was not immediately identified, only later, and no resident of the scene knows her. No relatives attended the scene.

The witnesses are residents close to the scene and said they heard only the noise of the collision and that when they left the street they had already encountered the accident. They did not know how to report the dynamics of the accident.

The driver is authorized to drive a motor vehicle.

According to the PM, the National Driver's License was apprehended and the vehicle was seized.

The victim's bicycle was also taken to the courtyard, since no victim's relative attended the scene.

The expertise was called and the expert, who performed the usual work, attended the scene.

3. Driver did not slow down for a pedestrian crossing.

4. Though negligent in the sudden change of direction, the bicyclist had priority, because of the clearly marked pedestrian crosswalk.

5. it is incumbent upon drivers to approach with caution, slow down and prepare for pedestrians or bicyclists when approaching pedestrian crossings.

Maybe. But in slow motion it does appear like he leaned left away from the car trying to get out of the way.

That's one of those accidents where ya, the car was speeding, and ya the driver was drunk. But its still 50% the bikes fault for being oblivious to traffic and driving on the wrong side.
