Yeah, Dario Agento himself couldn't have done a better job, what with the blood pouring out onto the camera lens turning the screen Deep Red  There's a scene in the Steve McQueen film Papillon where the director Franklin J. Schaffner (Planet of the Apes, Patton) cleverly puts the camera at the bottom of the guillotine basket so that the head falls onto it with a splash of blood. When I saw it in the cinema as a young teen, two girls screamed and nearly fainted, running out of the theater during that shot  |
