A resident told he was playing in the car with his 8-year-old son inside his garage of his home when the vehicle's shift and throttle were triggered and resulted in his female neighbor being run over and killed when she was standing in front of her home.

The accident occurred at Rua Graça Aranha, in Jardim Amanda 2, at 20:40. A.R. dos Santos, 37, was with his 8-year-old son on his lap when "someone" reversed the car at speed and smashed the gate of his house, crossed the street and running over the neighbor.

M. P. da S. B, 55, a resident of the house, opened the gate of her house to do a donation to the church she attended. The two people she talked with jumped out of the way but she tripped, fell and was run over. With many injuries, she was attended by the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to the Hospital, but could not resist.

She leaves a husband, three children and five grandchildren and will be buried this afternoon in Hortolândia.

Santos claimed that his 8-year-old son was learning to drive with him in the garage and that the boy had set the throttle with the car in reverse, resulting in the accident.

Police officers noticed that he had symptoms of drunkenness and local residents claimed they saw Santos in a bar during the day. He did not take a breathalyzer test but admitted that he had drunk two beers. He was nonetheless arrested and sent to jail for manslaughter (one who has no intention of killing).
