Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
From the time-stamp 0:15-0:25, you're saying that's Mandarin? Doesn't sound like any Mandarin accent I've ever heard.

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
Ok, i sent a friend in China the audio (only) portion of the clip. It's confirmed it is definitely not Mandarin. I am usually pretty good at picking out accents but your comment confused me so I had the audio checked.

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
I said the END, not the beginning. The portion you are referencing is definitely not Mandarin and the killer barely spoke there. Btw, if it’s not clear, I’m referring to the longer video.

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
So, you don’t speak Chinese (or any variant of it), it seems. I recommend reading up more about the language situation in China. Not everyone speaks Mandarin.

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
Could you provide a time stamp? At what part of the video are they speaking Mandarin? I'm just curious. (edit: Ok, I rechecked the video from around 1:47, he does not seem to be speaking Vietnamese there, and it does sound more Mandarin.) Also 'yes', I am quite aware that China has multiple ethnicities and hence multiple languages with most variety in the southwestern part of China. At the time stamp I was referring to, I am pretty sure they are speaking Vietnamese. I spent some time in Vietnam if that clears anything up. So anyway, I guess we were both talking about different parts of the video. |

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
Just because I don't speak the language doesn't necessarily mean I can't recognize the type of language or accent. I think many people can distinguish between German, English, and French without speaking those languages as an example. |

Re: Double Killing At a Chinese Construction Site
Yes, it is very clearly Mandarin at that point in the video. At that moment, it should be clear that the location is China. Chinese people do not (or rarely?) go to Vietnam to work. Vietnamese are the ones who (often illegally) make their way to China to work. |

I bet “angry knife wielding husband” wasn’t mentioned on the JSA that morning. You really gotta brainstorm everything on a construction site. Safety is everything
