Re: Doc Killed After Street Fight with Cabbie
Spent a lot of time studying martial arts. We spent a good deal of time practicing falls, particularly protecting our noggins. I think about that every time I see a video like this when someone hits their head. I remember our first day outside taking falls on concrete. A couple guys bitched it was unnecessary. The instructor asked them if they planned on taking a mat with them everywhere they went. |

Re: Doc Killed After Street Fight with Cabbie
Practicing falls while you’re fully conscious and coherent is pointless. Traumatic brain injuries from fights happen because someone punched you and reset your CPU. While you’re out, you’re falling. There’s no conscious effort happening here. He isn’t there. His body is a limp noodle just like yours would be if this happened to you. Fall practice means nothing in these instances. And yes I’ve done it. Falling correctly is a core tenant of BJJ. |

Re: Doc Killed After Street Fight with Cabbie
That fall was u fortunate. And it sounded like someone breaking open a coconut. Something to take from this… if you are ever in a street fight on concrete.. just try to avoid the situation.. you could be killed.. or win the fight and unintentionally kill someone.
