Delaware Cop Shoots Black Man in Wheelchair Bleeding from Self-inflicted Wound
he Delaware Department of Justice said on Thursday it would review the case of what has been described as police killing a wheelchair-bound black man who officers said had a gun. The shooting comes at a time of increased scrutiny over police violence in the United States following several high-profile police killings of unarmed black men over the past year. The department said in a brief statement that its Office of Civil Rights and Public Trust would investigate the shooting, which took place on Wednesday in Wilmington, the state’s largest city, according to officials, local media, and a video purporting to show the incident The Wilmington Police Department could not be reached on Thursday to provide details or comment, but was quoted in the local News Journal newspaper as saying that officers responded to the area after a caller reported that a man in a wheelchair had shot himself. Sergeant Andrea Janvier said the man, identified by family as 28-year-old Jeremy McDole, was armed with a handgun when police arrived, according to the newspaper. In a cell phone video uploaded to YouTube that purports to show the incident, an officer with a long gun drawn yells at the man to raise his hands and “drop the gun.” Suddenly, a shot rings out. The officer then appears to pump his weapon, which expels a cartridge. The video shows two more officers with handguns drawn arriving and yelling at the man, who appears to be bleeding, to put up his hands. The three officers move toward him. The man uses his arms to adjust himself in the wheelchair several times before he appears to reach toward his pants’ front pocket and the officers open fire. The man’s hands appear empty throughout the video. “The mayor’s office and police department are aware of the video and continue to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the officer-involved shooting,” said Alexandra Coppadge, spokeswoman for Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams. Family and friends of McDole, who gathered at the scene after the killing and again on Thursday morning, said he never owned a gun and questioned the police account that he was armed and shot himself, according to the News Journal. “We want justice for my brother,” Ashley Morrison-Wright told the newspaper. “This isn’t right.” “He was a very, very sweet man,” she added. |

the dude was fumbling around in his pockets near the end, He very well could have been reaching for a weapon. Plus the fact he ignored prior commands.. I would say the cops did the right thing.. If a cop has a weapon drawn and pointed towards you, You do as the cop says.. simple as that. |

Re: Delaware Cop Shoots Black Man in Wheelchair Bleeding from Self-inflicted Wound
You're absolutely right, most people have never been in a situation where their life is truly in danger, these cops answered a call where it was either "shots fired" or a reported man with a firearm in the area, to answer a call like that is absolutely unnerving to anyone. Most people don't think about it like that because their looking at the situation after it happened and at home in their own comfort. As far as I'm concerned when a cop is talking to you, ESPECIALLY in any situation like this, get your fucking hands open and in the air, I always keep mine out the window when I've been pulled over, I am not going to make it harder on these people who don't exactly get paid a lot of money for what they do. Get your fucking hands in the air and don't do anything that could be taken as threatening, the cops are in the right and anybody who says otherwise probably isn't looking at this logically.

cop levels a gun at your head and tells you to do a fandango, your gonna dance yor fucking tits off for him, i know , i had a gun pointed at me by three cops years ago, and i did what i was told, and im still here, all you got to do is what they tell you to do, unless of course you can catch speeding bullets in your teeth, which clearly this trailer trash thought he could! i dont blame the police for a second , they gave the guy every chance they could until they thought they were in danger, to me , he got what he asked for?! |

Re: Delaware Cop Shoots Black Man in Wheelchair Bleeding from Self-inflicted Wound
The fat pig bitch cop SHOT HIM with a shotgun in the beginning! Read the story. That dude probably didn't know what the fuck to do at that point. Shock obviously as he's probably squirting blood from multiple wounds. Hell maybe he was in so much pain from the first shot (in which no gun was visible and their was NO reason for) that he just said "Fuck it kill my ass", and reached in his pocket. Who knows.
