The Grupo Flechas Operativa MZ, the legion in charge of the security of the drug lord and founder of the Sinaloa Cartel, Ismael el Mayo Zambada, has the task of cleaning the squares and depriving members of opposing criminal cells of their lives.

The criminal cell, until now almost unknown, has dared to challenge Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, El Mencho and the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) with an offensive rarely seen in the history of the narco, but that in recent months they have used videos as a means of intimidation.

Videos surfaced with heavily armed men dressed in tactical equipment threatened: "We have come to clean the square, heads will roll."

The Flechas Operativa MZ Group is based mainly in the north-central area of the country.

In north central Mexico, there is an alliance between the Gulf Cartel and the CJNG that are in conflict with the Sinaloa and Northeast Cartel.

The corridor made up of the municipalities of Fresnillo, Calera, Guadalupe, Trancoso and Ojocaliente, is at the heart of the fight for control of drug dealing, drug trafficking routes and other high-impact crimes.

Due to the presence of these criminal groups in January 2021, Zacatecas ranked first in the nation in homicides with 108.

The tragedy visited Zacatecas six years ago, when the Army warned about the displacement of CJNG cells on the border between Jalisco and Zacatecas. Shortly after, in the city of Nochistlán (Zacatecas) a glass laboratory was found, presumably from the cartel of the four letters.

Zacatecas is the key to different entities: San Luis Potosí, Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Durango, Nayarit and Colima.

Last April, through recordings, the entry of men from the CJNG to Valparaíso, Zacatecas was announced: they walked the streets and shouted in front of the Municipal Palace, “Pura gente del Señor Mencho”.

Five months passed and the violence continued: Ricardo Barrón Guzmán, director of the Juan Aldama headquarters, and one of his subordinates were assassinated. The authorities blamed the war waged by the Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación cartels.
