Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video
The person who submitted this video is a complete moron! "the police saw the suspect voluntarily disarmed and opened fire at him." See how long it takes from the time he lifts his weapon "shoe", to when the first shot is fired. That's like what, a fraction of a second? If someone is threatening you with a hidden weapon while you have your gun pointed at them, and that person makes a sudden move with their weapon, most sane people would open fire, just out of self protection. I'm sure when you first saw this video and heard "if the dog come my way, I'ma shoot!", your first thought wasn't, "I bet he really has a shoe and he'll drop it on the ground when the dog runs at him". I know for a fact that it wasn't and I also know for a fact that the cops didn't think that way either. |

Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video
hmm.. very good point, but may i reiterate that it wasn't actually a weapon, and that in ANY standoff like this, it's basically a given that if the police ask for something, the suspect should comply, and the other way around. these cops were just some trigger happy motherfuckers. i mean, where did this all take place? Compton, California. one of the most violent cities in the United States. one reason i'll never go to California, unless i stay at least 50 miles away from Compton at all times. GREAT POST! shows how some police aren't who they make each other out to be. heroes. |

Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video
According to Wikipedia, he wasn't wanted for murder, despite himself claiming so... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deandre_Brunston At the time he was being sought for questioning from an alleged domestic abuse incident after his girlfriend called 911. After initially evading the police, Brunston was cornered in a nearby doorway where he and the officers tried to negotiate. He repeatedly told the officers he was wanted for murder (which was false), would rather die right there than go back to prison, and that he was armed and would shoot a police dog and the deputies if the dog was released or they fired first. However he had no gun but had a flip-flop sandal in his right hand hidden under his T-shirt. Brunston repeatedly stated that he would throw the "gun" down and surrender if he were allowed to speak to his girlfriend who he said was pregnant with his child, but his request was never granted. |

It was still a good deal. I rather they pay the family a couple of grand, than having to support that piece of shit on tax payers money for the rest of his life. Or even worse, have him hurt some else. Hell of bargain, in my opinion.
