It's bullshit that he was afraid of the dog. He was daring them to release the dog, over and over again. It really pisses me the fuck off that they sent the dog into a hail of gun fire though.

Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video

You can blame the police all you want for this one, but looking at the situation, I think you must be leaving out a few details. First of all, you should listen more closely to what's being said, since it's not hard to understand that the suspect is antagonizing the police officers. Second of all, to say that the K9 officer was inexperienced has nothing to do with the dog being killed. The officers on site needed to react quickly to what they thought was an armed person raising a gun to fire. It's not their fault the dog was killed, simply because they were reacting as quick as they could to prevent the harm or murder of a fellow officer. As humans, they responded naturally to a high stress situation. That's all.

Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video

Plain & simple, cops screwed the pooch on this one (no pun intended) and ended up costing the city over $500,000 in settlements and legal fees. I hate these low-lifes as much as the next guy, but this could have been avoided but for some trigger happy cops who didn't want to wait out this situation.

- No citizens were in imminent danger.
- He told the police he would throw the "gun" down and surrender if he were allowed to speak to his girlfriend (who was already in custody).
- They didn't wait for the crisis team with a trained negotiator that was enroute to the scene.
- They released their dog which precipitated the barrage of ire when the suspect reacted.
- They fired EIGHTY-ONE shots in less than 7 seconds including dozens of shots after he AND the dog were obviously hit. Talk about the gang that couldn't shoot straight...
- They killed their own dog; a generally valuable police asset.

Naw, this was a total clusterfuck and while Brunston was culpable in his own death, it's shocking that nobody lost their job over it or faced any serious discpline. Who lost out (besides Brunson)? The taxpayers.

The saddest part about this is the Dog :( The kid deserved to be shot 100 times in the head, you do NOT argue with the police, espeically being held at gunpoint like this. He kept threatening to shoot, and then he was shot. O well, LISTEN, dont disobey the laws morons.

Re: Deandre Brunston Vs LA County Sheriff Dept Video

If I was told that I was going to get shot if I didn't cooperate, and then I didn't cooperate, I probably want to get shot. They did the right thing.
I've seen too many videos of cops getting killed to feel sorry for this guy. Because this guy is doing a lot more to hurt society than the cops are.
