This is where the appeal (to many) of religion comes into play. If you believe in the resurrection with a perfect, immortal, body these deaths don't really bother you. The power of belief . . . Laugh if you will, but humans seem to have a built-in psychological attraction to the Great Escape, even in the face of centuries of secular science.
