Dead Biker on the Highway

A motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon on a Mexican highway after hitting the asphalt.

The incident occurred in the center lanes of the highway, near a pedestrian bridge. Eyewitnesses indicated that the motorcyclist lost control after allegedly being struck by a moving pick-up truck.

As a result, he skidded on the asphalt and suffered fatal injuries. Preliminary reports suggest he was attempting to pass on the right when the accident occurred.

Motorcycle accidents have increased by nearly 40% in the State of Mexico. On average 16 bikers die each day.

That’s a crazy statistic. Almost like two wheel population control. I guess in an entire country that’s not so bad. I wonder how many motorcycle deaths in the U.S. daily!?

Re: Dead Biker on the Highway

Based on the most recent data available, the U.S. experiences approximately 17 motorcycle deaths per day on average.

In 2022, there were 6,220 motorcycle fatalities in the United States. To calculate the daily average:

6,220 deaths / 365 days ≈ 17.04 deaths per day

It's important to note that this is an average, and the actual number can vary significantly depending on various factors:

Weekday vs. Weekend: Fatal motorcycle accidents are more common on weekends. On average, there are 666.4 fatal motorcycle accidents per weekday, compared to 1,413 per weekend day.

Seasonal variations: Motorcycle fatalities tend to increase during warmer months when more riders are on the roads. For instance, March is noted as Florida's deadliest month for motorcycle accidents.

Time of day: Peak danger periods occur during rush hours (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM), with additional risks at night due to reduced visibility.

Location: Urban areas account for 67% of motorcycle fatalities, with 65% occurring at non-intersection locations.
