Re: Cyclist Run Over by Minibus After Hitting Car Door Being Opened
yet, the cyclist should immediately stop, right there when the door opened. His speed was low, there was no need to risk whether space in enough for him to get through

Re: Cyclist Run Over by Minibus After Hitting Car Door Being Opened
Typical cyclist idiot. The man got INTO the car. He didnt open the door suddenly from inside the car. Stupid suicidal cyclist ran right into the door and is 100% at fault. Traffic moving very slow but still the idiot kills himself.

Re: Cyclist Run Over by Minibus After Hitting Car Door Being Opened
Cyclist should've been paying attention to both parked vehicles on the side (as annoying as that is), especially as a cyclist, and moving traffic. This is also what we'd expect a driver to do. Would-be driver should've also checked the road to see if the road was clear rather than just taking his sweet ass time getting into the vehicle. Turn your damn head down the road and take a few seconds. I work in a city with annoying ass bike lanes and always do a rear mirror check, followed by a shoulder one, before exiting, to make sure the way is clear because the cyclist sure as hell won't see me. Would-be driver more at fault as they were essentially a pedestrian who should yield to traffic on the road, but when you're a cyclist riding in traffic like that, the realistic, greater burden is on you. We all know how entitled and empty headed they (pedestrians) can be too (slowly wandering into traffic with their faces in their phones, never turning their heads to check the road, etc.). I know that pedestrians get right of way by default but that's just bullshit. As a pedestrian and cyclist you have to assume people won't see you and take the time to ensure your own safety. With the bus being so close I don't know why the cyclist didn't pull over to let it pass then re-enter or ride on the sidewalk. Again, basic traffic navigation and awareness. |
