Run over by a bus...
As the 'Jornal de Piracicaba' reported, a man was run over and killed while riding a bicycle along Avenida Comendader Luciano Guidotti this Monday morning(22), in Piracicaba.The fatal victim is Jose da Costa Goncalves, 57, a resident of the Ary Coelho.

According to information, the accident occurred at 8:25 am in Jardim Caxambu. The 44 year old bus driver said that he was driving along the avenue when he heard the noise of something hitting the right side of the bus. "When I looked in the rear view mirror I soon saw a bicycle and an individual on the ground." the driver informed in a police report. He says that he realized Jose was lifeless when he got off the bus to help.

The accident was captured by the security camera of a nearby establishment. The Military Police was at the scene and isolated the area until the arrival of experts from the IC(Institute of Criminalistics). Subsequently, the body was sent to the IML(Institute of Forensic Medicine).

The case was registered with the UPS(Judiciary Police Unit)as manslaughter. The driver was released after giving his testimony.

Would love to see some bus drivers like that where I live, sort these two wheel spastics out properly.

only an idiot wouldnt realize that bicycles are treated as motor vehicles, which means you have to follow the same laws and rules of the road including, speed limit, riding on the right side of the road, and not on the sidewalk. The reason why its not enforced much is because 1. there are more serious infractions/crimes that are going on at any given time 2. most people are fucking idiots (like you) who have no fucking clue what the laws are...

My thoughts are with that woman and her dog. I can't imagine witnessing something like that and only a few feet away. I hope they didn't get any of the spray....

And this is why cities have bike lanes. But in the case where there are none I'm surprised people don't realize that you're generally discouraged from riding on the sidewalks. It's illegal in plenty of places.
