Re: Cremation of a Human Body

Not up for being cremated..nor do I want to be buried like a normal everyday guy..Can they just toss me in the woods somewhere or something? Let nature take it's course. Don't want no embalming fluid or any of that chemical crap. The Bears eating me, occasional critter or something stoppin in for a bite, some hawks swoopin down, maggots cleaning my bones.. then pooped out..go right back to the earth where I came I from, feeding plants which feed animals etc, the circle of life..

Oh...wait..
I signed off as an organ donor..

Medical/scientific research and maybe just MAYBE a piece of my corpse will help some ill-fated soul..the rest of me? like..the grissle and useless parts and whatnot..probably end up going to the fire anyways...
Donate your corpse to the body farm dude.

Re: Cremation of a Human Body

Now I'm suddenly having flashbacks to the scene in Diamonds Are Forever when Bond is knocked into a coffin and pushed in the oven.

Or, "Scrooged". I think it was that movie where Bill Murray's brother was going into the oven in a visit from the ghost of Christmas future.

Re: Cremation of a Human Body

Did you all check out the full documentary, "A Certain Kind of Death"?

It is here and in a separate thread.

Very interesting, sad and informative

Re: Cremation of a Human Body

I'm an organ donor. What do I care? If I can help someone else live or see, good for them!

I shall be cremated after that.

I doubt if you are an organ donor, they'll take what they need and just toss the carcass.

You can still be buried.

I guess you can write a Will and ask that your family claim your body and they can dig a hole in the woods somewhere where it is unlikely they'd find you right away.

You live in the coal mining regions, if I recall. They can toss you in an old mine, but, I believe it's been done there in another county out there.
I signed up for the organ donation program with the hope of helping others too.

Just Seems the more I look into it, the more shady it seems.
Things like body parts ending up on the black market etc.
Just disapointing..do this to help people, and the parts are being SOLD to people not on waiting lists. While average every day people on waiting lists end up dying while someone with more money buys my kidney or other organ.

I supppose also, my whole being tossed in the woods thought makes it sound selfish..but If I'm going to want to do something like that. then why not do it as a whole?

So, leaves me with this, I'll let it be. The state can harvest my usable body parts, send the bad ones to science/McDonalds..and do with me as they will.
And hopefully, someone gets another chance to another day.

If you die with family close by or in a hospital and they know you are a donor, you're pretty much guaranteed having your wishes fulfilled, at least in most of the US.

The last of my brothers who died was an organ donor. He was a large person. They took skin and his corneas, which I found interesting because he had horrible eyesight.

The organs were probably no good because he was an alcoholic and had an enlarged heart and liver. Plenty of skin though for burn patients.

We know it was done because my niece had to get a long sleeved shirt and long pants. He'd wear shorts most of the year, the big goof, lol!

I miss him terribly, especially with the holidays

I remember a comedian who joked about EMTs checking your license if you were in a accident and if your license listed you as an organ donor, they don't bother to resuscitate you!
