I had the pleasure of stopping a guy who was trying to decapitate another fellow with a shovel out side a night club I worked as a bouncer at, I nearly lost my head too.
His 3 friends were frozen to the spot not knowing what the fuck to do.
It's called the bystander effect.
After the other bouncers came and sat on the attacker, I took the victim to the first aid station and held his scalp on with a bandage.
So if you haven't been in this situation, don't comment with shit like 'you would have done this and that.' because in my 15 years as a bouncer, things like this are so confused, shocking and most people would be looking for a leader to follow because they do not know what to do.

Ever have those nightmares where some huge monster, or deranged person is "attacking" you, and you punch and kick, but it has no effect on your attacker because you're overwhelmed with fear? So the attacker just keeps pushing you back, until you wake up. These "kicks" looked even weaker than that. lol

I would hope that the "reality" of the situation would set in, and I would have kicked the fuckers head clean off, but I can't really say. Most of us don't exactly have encounters like this regularly. Reminds me of the Greyhound bus decapitation. i understand bystander freeze. i understand the fear of attempting to disarm someone with a knife.

what i don't understand is someone not coming to her immediate aid and offering medical attention once she was free of her attacker.
