Well if you did want to stop him quickly and not get stabbed there were several options how ever.

The walking stick that guy had would be great to hit him in the back of the head and most likely knock him out or give a concussion.

You could also grab the back of his jacket and drag him off, hes not a heavy set guy and he wouldn't be able to stab you that way either until he got up but while he's on his back you just stomp onto the wrist holding the knife and keep your foot there.

Not saying im he man but any one could do those two things easily

this was the first vid like this i ever saw last yr some time. Really bothered me as the bystanders do fuck all to help her as he is trying to murder her wtf if that was here hed of been dragged of and beaten to fuck, then she gets away to the guy with the bike and he just ignores her and walks away, wheres the compassion? id of had my top off holding it round her neck and comforting her till help arrived, it upset me at the time so now all this time on im glad to find out she lived tho i think 40 months for him is pathetic

What kind of a sentence is 40 lousy months anyway? That's not even the equivalent of 1 month per stab! So if he stabbed her just once, I guess he would have been sentenced to just a little over 1/2 of a month.
Regarding the Dutch bystanders: it's interesting because the Dutch are a tough bunch. I don't understand their reluctance to help by knocking the crap out of that guy. I don't think it's the way they would regularly react.
