Re: Cops Help Woman Suicide
Hello. Here is your free trial of the real world, we recommend that you consider subscribing to it permanently. 1. Knees/legs are harder to hit. If the cop missed, he might have been stabbed to death. Taking that risk with his life would qualify him as a "dumbass". 2. A hit to the legs may, or may not, have stopped the woman before she reached the officer. He might have been stabbed to death. Taking that risk with his life would qualify him as a "dumbass". This is why policy has been developed (by people who, I suspect, are more knowledgeable and experienced in the area than you) that says you aim for the center mass, which you are more likely to hit and which is more likely to stop the threat. Have you stopped to consider why your way of dealing with this type of situation is not the way law enforcement policy says it should be dealt with? If you have greater experience and insights on how to deal with this than law enforcement do, please share that with us. On this point you are correct. The proper (real world) way of dealing with this situation is, if possible, deploy both non-lethal and lethal. Try non-lethal first, if that stops the threat then that's a good outcome. But if non-lethal doesn't work (which is common) then lethal is the last option. |

Re: Cops Help Woman Suicide
She was intentionally wanting to commit suicide. If she had her own gun she wouldn't have to call the police to do it. REMEMBER: More Guns = Less Violent Crime. In the USA, the customer is always right, the police delivered the hot lead she ordered like a Dominoes "death disk". |

Re: Cops Help Woman Suicide
Correct. This video was an oh so rare case of them having a plan, tools, and staffing to try to use other than just lethal force ahead of time and yet the "partner" due to her inaction, completely removed the less lethal option, which requires lethal cover. You rarely see videos like this where they have options, on hand, ahead of time. Makes you wish beanbag shotguns were standard issue but you know how that goes. Plus Casey might've just used it as a walking stick. A civil suit due to said partner's lack of action is well founded. The male officer's plan and action (he even gave better than normal, positive verbal commands) points to the fact that such training is well in hand and should've been acted upon by his partner. She should go to jail, for sure as her lack of engagement not only potentially cost the woman her life but also scarred her partner. She's a walking bundle of danger to the public and liability. I suspect John Correia will do his usual hedging with this video review (I could've missed it as I only watch his channel about twice a week now) but he has been more equal in his LEO vs. private citizen analyses in recent years. He's still too hard on the latter though. |

Re: Cops Help Woman Suicide
I'll provide a good faith response. In this vein, how would you want such a woman handled (or deal with such yourself directly) if she lived near you/ your family, friends or loved ones? It's easy to cast stones than present actionable solutions to tough situations like this. Oddly enough, a private citizen who was bold enough could've opted to pepper spray her then coordinate a disarm and possible takedown but that's quite the tall order and risky, of course. People might come upon the attempt not knowing the situation and assume the one intervening is the aggressor, and what have you. Reminds me of a video in which a private citizen (for some reason) pulls a gun on a shoplifter. Cops respond and shoot him dead. Cops wouldn't use pepper spray because, as they have to take her into custody, that would also risk diminishing them. In the real world, people can and do "reanimate" after being shot. Thus they can persist in being a threat. There are plenty of examples on this very website of people still conscious/semi-conscious after being fatally wounded. Throw in drugs and extreme mental states and those chances can increase. While an exceptional case, check out the infamous FBI failure at the Miami shootout. Dude was shot with rifle rounds and stayed in a gun fight for minutes. Being shot by pistols usually causes a temporary blood pressure drop but after it normalizes again the person can come to, hence why they handcuff them. https://www.police1.com/police-train...mQkxCTmUwdCUe/ Fed link itself: https://vault.fbi.gov/FBI%20Miami%20...g%204-11-86%20 |
