Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man
I'm a cop and have been attacked by a mentally ill man although I could recognise that he was unstable he suddenly attacked me but I was quick and he never got a shot in apart from a kick on the leg. Although he was arrested if the guy had a knife he would've stabbed me. I do not have any sort of self defence as I am a police community support officer in britain I stood my ground. If he had a knife and he went for me I would've beaten him until he was dead. It's a mad world out there but you have to put your own safety as priority. Taser didn't work gun did. Very sad but I bet the officer felt very threatened. Good job mate. Stay safe. Oh and shut up all of you who are having a go, you clearly have never come across the level of violence that the police have to deal with on a daily basis! |

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man
I have worked with the criminally insane for over38 yrs and can tell you i have never met a schizophrenic that had anger control.Studies say they are no more prone to violance than normal people WHEN PROPERLY MEDICATED those are the magic words . I n my opinion less than 10 % stay on their meds after discharge The US spends trillions a year housing these violent mentally ill as their families cannot handle them and are scared of them but psych. nurses and aides must take care of them when they are out of control and want to hurt someone and we have no no NO INSTRUMENT OR PERSONNEL SELF DEFENCE DEVICE.I LOVED WHAT THIS COP DID TO HIM.. HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED THEY MAY BE CRAZY BUT IT NEVER AFFECTS THEIR ABILITY TO BE ABLE TO MANIPULATE AND ATTEMPT TO GET WHAT THEY WANT.. WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DEFEND YOURSELF WITH YOU GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT . oR POSSIBLY GET BEATEN UP BAD.. tHIS IS IN ALL PSYCH INSTITUTIONS IN AMERICA.. |

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man
Sorry but he was tazed multiple times, wouldn't drop his weapon and then charges the cops...what the hell were they supposed to do? It's sad that this guy had mental issues but he was still a serious threat to those officers. (And I don't usually side with cops)

I feel for the family; this was a tragic incident. However, the cops did their job well. They gave the man every opportunity to disarm himself and let things end peacefully.

Re: Cop Fatally Shoots Mentally Ill Man
I worked in security at a mental hospital. I remember this old small lady picked up a security guard that was taller and heavier than her and tossed him to the ground. |
